I am running XP Pro, can one change the start button colour in the registry? I imagine not due to it having both a bevelled and a light effect.

Annoys me too, everything is funkatronic silver...then the stupid green start button. Cannot be arsed with any of these theme programs.
I've found a few guides for changing it, but most of them involve breaking into all sorts of Windows tamper-proof system files
iirc you could change it by hacking a .dll file or similar with resource hacker proggy.... you could just switch to Windows classic style or use uxtheme patcher Here and use one of the many themes that are available on the net.

take a look at wincustomise.com and get windowsblinds. Thats all you will ever need.
yeah, i didn't want to alter my setup through a *.dll file, could be a bit risky. Patches are just another thing on top. If it were available in the reg. it would be a natural mod. What level of customisation can one get in Longhorn?
Tried that. That's and American Xbox site (like these free ipod & PC e.t.c. sites). We must think american and spell it wincustomiz e.comOriginally Posted by Famished

P.S. Am looking around it @ moment.
It would be insanely difficult by my reckoning, but the level of customisation would be awesome as everything is 3d rendered, it could be just like the moviesOriginally Posted by Matt1eD
the bevel, the light effects, the changing with mouse over, the curve on the end not being a square click box. To re-write that would be v. v.v.v.v.v.v.vv. hard! One could write it in a program, but the OS nah.!
