You'd think by 2018 this would be easy, wouldn't you?
To start with.. you SHOULD be able to type it into the start bar and get the right result
But what do you type?
Image? no
Backup? nope cos that gives you the chance to Look for an old backup in Win7...
(turns out that I where I needed to go)
So here I am in Win 10 looking at a Back up and Restore (Windows 7 ) page......great
What on earth is going on in the Microslush world for this to still not be sorted.
What would a noob look for?
from the Windows 7 page you mention... over on the left you should see an option to create a system image - it's detailed at https://pureinfotech.com/create-wind...-image-backup/
Or... just install Veeam Free and use that instead, it's what I do and it's less hassle.

but what I am implying is this... with all the Windows updates ... surely one of them could have included making this easy....?
I see what you mean now, yeah... the removal/hiding of the system image backup in Win8 was a bad move in my eyes.
That said: if Microsoft include a tool like this then it tends to get derided as bloatware, if they don't then people complain...
They have made it easier in recent patches, for a while it was really hidden deep as Microsoft seem to be pushing File History instead for home users :S
i have to admit I gave up and re installed.
I had a new build PC with a spin drive and wanted to swap it to an SSD.
I did make an Image, and it went onto a USB drive, but when I booted back into Windows recovery, and showed it the Image it didn't recognise it.. and after an hour or arsing about i just reinstalled.
The "old" backup thing is the imaging stuff, it works just as before. They're trying to push file history for day-to-day users. This combined with hardware-bound activation and the complete reset functionality should be enough for every day users.

Full disclosure: I've used their virtualization backups a lot over the past few year. Amazing software. Totally reliable in an enterprise context.Quote:
