you don't. Win 2K is great and MS say they will support it till 2010. However their last major SP thing will be this http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...ins/rollup.asp . It also networks much better. Looks better.

Against: nothing (except slowly some things inf 5 years might have to have higher, I don't know!)

Win2000 is, in my opinion, the best version of Windows still. Everything added in XP is either useless bloat, or done better by third-party utilities that I already own.

    yup stick with 2000.
XP is only worth jumping to if you're on 98/ME

How true. How very true. Doubly so if networking.

I've used XP, and it doesn't seem any better than 2000 - from my experiences, it just uses more RAM and looks slightly different.

XP is not bad if you know what to do with it.

Wow! I'm surprised - I was expecting everyone to shout 'hail XP!' Thought I was the only person who thought 2000 was great!
Why: I have heard it has better 'memory management'??? Therefore is better running games etc...????
I knew xp had plenty of bugs so never considered changing, but I thought it would have been sorted out by now and as a result be the best OS, obviously not....

i have heard windows 2003 was better. personally i have never been affected by any bugs that people talk about. I dig XP cause it gets the job done and there are no hassles especially if you know what you are doing. I think XP is perfect for me. My 2 cents.
