Outlook Android has the wrong senders name on it
Hi all
I have a very odd issue and it's not one I've found a result for yet. so i'm hoping you guys will know.
I have a work email address, and I use Outlook on my Android phone. When I send from it, the recipient sees me with a slightly different name to that if I send from my PC (also Outlook)
I was under the impression than my Google account name was the issue, and I have changed it, but still my senders name shows wrongly at the recipient end. It's not utterly wrong.. it still is my name, but it's not the professional full name I'd want. It's just my initials.
Does anyone know why? It's clearly an issue in many places and has lots of forum space across the globe, but the "answers" and links haven't helped thus far.
Any idea please?

Probably something you've already checked for, but just in case...
Have you checked to see if it's in the settings of that app? I'd imagine that it might be set in there for whatever reason.
(I haven't used it, so it's just a thought that comes to mind as a possibility.)

I agree - Must be something in the Outlook settings rather than anything Google-related.

Seems like the Outlook app ignores anything from Outlook online/server and have to set when you add the email address: https://androidforums.com/threads/so...is-it.1070842/

I can't find anything on the android app that lets you change your display name, so I assume it must pull it from your account on the server. When I go to compose an email I get a drop down to choose my send address (because I have a couple of aliases on my outlook.com account), so it might be worth checking whether the full name is an option in that menu? Otherwise check with the email admin to see if they can update your details on the server.
iirc desktop outlook usually asks your for an account name when you add a new account to it, so may be using that as the send name - although it may also vary depending on the version you're using. You'd think sending emails would be a simple task, wouldn't you ;)

That's a good point. Your display name on your mailbox actually might be the thing that is wrong but you have had the option from the desktop client to set a custom one.
