    help neded in binary decding please

    hi iv just joined the group so this might be in the wrong location sorry if it is ok here goes i have a binary file from a eeprom chip wich i would like to decode turn it int o plain text to read if isent some one this file could it be decoded?and could i be shown how its been done
    what iv tried so far is taking a binary file from the eeprom chip and openenig it with win hex copying the hex and trying to turn it into binary and the into text
    i would be thankfull for any help on this at all regards tony

    What sort of data is contained on the eeprom? Most eeprom data can't really be turned into plaintext as it's just binary data...

    good luck with that... assuming whats on the prom is a prog you would need to know
    what program was used to download it and go from there i would have thought.

    Not gonna be much use anyway even if you do turn it into ascii text its gonna mean absolutely nothing, its like turning 1 + 2 = 3 into a + b = c, just meaningless.

    What you need to know is what the data on the eeprom actually is (i.e. code, pure data, etc) and then if it's code you need to know what instruction set it's written in so that you can disassemble it... If it's data you need to know what the data structure is and what each part of it actually means... This is all assuming the chip isn't encrypted somehow..

    hi thanks to everyone who replied im shore the files that come from the eeprom is in binary or is some how converted into binary if its already not one in the first place this is the process that i have to do in its basic turms first i had to get a special programmer made from schematics which i did using any other programmer will cause crc errors, when trying to read the chip. when i connect the three wires to the chip sdl scl grd i have to use the software supplied by the guy in australia its called a keymaker i can send anyone that whants it with a copy of a binary file once iv read the file i send it to this guy he then tells me wheather he can tell the the password or not and upto now iv had now problems id just like to know how this works and do it for my self thanks for any help
