    Service Pack 2 issue

I've just managed to install SP2 after several problems. ZoneAlarm complained and borked the install; when I tried to uninstall SP2 that failed. Eventually I had to reinstall the nForce 2 and Catalyst drivers (with difficulty), before successfully installing SP2.

I'm now left with a network icon in the system tray complaining about an unplugged network cable. Clearly my internet connection is working, and there are no marked entries in Device Manager. I presume this icon has something to do with one of the network adapters on my nForce 2 mobo. How do I get rid of it?

Try Start > Network connections. Right click the connection > properties and uncheck the "notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity" box.

    I think this is a known SP2 bug. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=892896

There is a hotfix at MS somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it anymore.

    You could try windows update.

It's a bug with SP2, everyone has it. It says searching for network something when you hover over the icon?

I followed iranu's link, nothing has changed, although I haven't restarted yet. It's not a big problem, I just like to keep my systray as clean as possible.
