problems configuring a USB mouse in X

Firstly to those who helped me with my post on no internet after gentoo install, thank you for ur time. However, i have since abandond trying to get that to work and am now trying to use Vector. Its installed and seems to be working. However im haveing trouble configuring my USB mouse. When i eidit XF86Config. i type exactly the following:

    Section "InputDevice"

    #Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse0" (have also tried mouse1)
    Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" (have also tried PS/2)
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Im useing a MS Wireless USB Mouse. when i started X for the first time, without configureing anything the mouse would only move up or down. Pressing a button and moveing would move the cursor to the right in a wobbily line. After congifureing X i thought it would work, but it does not, it stays the same. Does any one know how to sort this out. thanks for any help

Are you sure you are pointing to the correct device in /dev?

Yeh,it is correct belive. I just plugged a cabled USB mouse into the same port and its working now so it has to be the "wireless" aspect of the mouse thats messing things up for me. Is there a way round this?
