    rpmfind.net - a political stance

not sure if this belongs in the OS forum, but as it serves OS functions I made a judgment call.

rpmfind.net and all its mirrors have stopped serving up files for public use thanks to the EU Patent issues.

take a look and search for an RPM and read on.

very interesting, if not unusual way to make a stance

i've run into similar brick walls

the problem is, since the high priests of the EU have so far ignored all democratic decisions and any debate or protest on the matter, we're all a bit stuck. europe is pretty much buggered when they come into force, but the well-paid MEPs with their corporate kickbacks won't be the ones left jobless, it'll be the small developers (and the open source people)

Yet another well thought out piece of EU legislation that will acheive the direct opposite of what was intended. I guess developers will be based and take their jobs elsewhere, just like the London Art market will do when additional VAT and "droit de suite" comes into force.

Your only choice is to vote No in the upcoming referendum on the EU "constitution".

in the relms of reality, nothing can really be done about this.

Its strange though that in a time of growing external markets, India, China, etc etc EU leaders appear to be forcing it to be more exensive and harder to work or conduct business in the EU.

Britain out of the EU....its the only way

M8 you have hit the nail on the head. It don't take a rocket scientist to work this one out.

When you say "in the relms of reality, nothing can really be done about this",

    I feel your frustration.

The interweb is one of the most powerful tools to change society (for the good) and can be used for the peaceful change of badly thought out legislation where no (true) regulatory body is present.

Perhaps our grandchildren will scrutinise "our" legacy and change it. However I feel as you do and think that maybe we (the UK) should look at alternatives.
