squeeze me? M$ and Free in the same context don't work...nope, nah, no way...
there has to be a catch in there somewhere...has to be. and I'm guessing it'll be something along the lines of "nothing else will work with 64bit windows [drivers etc] so we're going to give it away in exchange for your 32bit XP disk [for "free"] and its so loaded with bugs that when you come complaining that nothing works we'll charge you the privelige of your original disk back...and then we'll release an SP pack every year on the proceeds we make from it..."
...perhaps?

I know they are giving away a copy but it has a time limit on it for a year.
Yes as Shiato Storm says there HAS to be a catch!.. This is micro$t we are talking about.. And what you said above (Famished) seems like the kind of thing they would do ..Originally Posted by Famished

We'll shall see.. would be surprising.. Suppose its not as if Bill Gates can't afford it!
You trade in your 32bit CD for the 64bit version
I bought a OEM version of XP Pro from Novatech because I bought it with a pack of CD-Rs, so will they let me switch that disk for x64?
New Sig on the Way...
can't see why not but then again they know LOADS of people got xp with their computers and so probably won't honour it for oem's...
oh and the one year lifespan is for teh current beta release. it might be different for what they're offering though.
xp by subscription anyone?

Yes, I'll definately gain a certain pleasure seeing a Microsoft labelled product between the fruit and veg aisles.
