    Unhappy copying game files from win10 pc to another.

    it would beneficial if i can transfer downloaded data on to friends computer , we both run windows 10 PCs . the application in discussion is Gears of War 4, (which got a massive discount so we thought of ceasing the opportunity).

    unfortunately the download process was extremely slow, but managed to get the files and install it successfully. ( after 2.5 days of snail speed)
    my question is-->

    is it possible to get the files from my PC's storage to his PC via a portable storage device. and fool the PC that the files were downloaded using internet.

    this can be done on Steam, is it possible to do it on win10 store.

    value your experience and advice very much.
    thanks in advance.

    In theory yes, however if there is a licence fee involved, they are unlikely to run if they are executable files until a license is purchased.

    HEXUS does not condone or support illegal copying or discussions suggesting methods of copyright circumvention. Such discussions may lead to the suspension or banning of the participants

    And with that out of the way - welcome to HEXUS :hexlub

    I don't know how the win 10 store stuff is encrypted - if it's per device/account then copying files encrypted for your mate will do nothing for you.

    A better approach would be to have your mate enable delivery optimisation. If you're on the same network then windows should be smart and copy sharable files from computers on the same network where possible. This works for windows updates, I don't know about store files.

    Re: copying game files from win10 pc to another.

    The Windows store unfortunately requires you to take ownership of the WindowsApp folder. This has been known to cause issues so I'm afraid you're out of luck for sharing that folder without hassle.

    I used to do this with my housemate to save on downloading twice and benefiting from gigabit. If you use Steam, UPlay, EA you just need to copy the common folders. And it's not possible to circumvent the activation. If you copy a game that one of you hasn't paid for they all detect this. Steam & Origin makes you go to the store page, not sure on UPlays action.
