    Xandros OS 3

For anyone wanting to painlessly dip their toe into Linux I can heartily recommend Xandros, the latest open circulation version of which is now available as a free download. I've been using Xandros 2 for a while and have been very impressed. This latest version is even more impressive. I've installed it on three computers: my NF7-based 'play' system listed below (two hard drives, dual boot), an Aopen s661FXm PIV system with integrated everything and an old Compaq Deskpro EN SFF with 500mhz PIII. In each case the installation was totally painless with all hardware being correctly identified and drivers loaded. It runs flawlessly on all three computers. A very real alternative to Windows.

Just a thought for anyone thinking about trying Linux.

Which is better Suse or Xandros 3? This summer I will probably have a dual boot, with Windows XP Pro and some linux OS.

Suse, has a fantstic installer, it supported all my hardwaree, first time, connected to my network for me and even installs all the updates in the install. From what I hear its the best one to go for.

Must give that one a try as well. So far over the last seven days I have tried Mandrake which I found very easy to use considering it was my first taste of linux and have just been using Knoppix which is great if you just want to see what Linux is about without having to install anything (Runs from CD) on boot up.

Was thinking of trying out suse next but have opted to try out Fedora instead.
I have become a linux whore
One thing that struck me was how easy it is to use Linux and what great support there is for hardware out of the box (Or iso image as it maybe).

I'd recommend anyone give Linux a go, I don't really know diddly squat about Linux but from what I have seen as a novice I like it alot
