    Visual Basic

I have a fairly old version of VB 6.0

However when i run the install package, it only gets past the serial number screen, and then crashes, saying it is not a supported application.

I take it is because of the O/S - I am using WinXP. Any ideas? Do i need a patch? I have searched google and the microsoft website but found nothing.

Thanks in advance for your time

I dont believe you need a patch or anything, we have Win XP machines here running VB6 Professional Edition. They have SP 2 installed before the VB goes on then VB service pack 3 I think it is.

Sorry if this doesnt help you.

EDIT: Are you logged on as Admin when you install it?

A quick look on the net reveals...

Never mind my previous question. After numerous attempts, I've
finally gotten Visual Studio 6 up and running on my new Win XP Pro
    machine.

I'm not sure why the following worked, but it did. I manually
registered Dao350.dll via the regsvr32 command and then I deleted all
the non-system files that were on the machine because of the failed
installs. The next time I ran the install package, everything went
    through fine.
