    Secure Data Removal

    Does anybody know of any free tools for secure destruction of files? Anybody tried this:-

    It was only the result of a little googling.

    Edit:- Just found http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/Doc/datarmv.html anybody know of better free ones or had any experience of them?

    I've used Eraser before, though it was version 5.1, which has no mention of this Heidi Computers; thus, it was quite some time ago. Back then, it was pretty good, and seemed to be very thorough. With it's secure setting, though, it's very slow - overwriting a file 35 times, even if it's only a few megabytes, takes far longer than one might think. But if you want security...
