    Anyone with Norton Ghost experience?

Was hoping to learn how to put an end to the slow, time consuming windows re-installating process. Whenever I install XP fresh I tweak a lot of settings and install and tweak some necessary programs.

I've been told I can create an image of my perfect windows install with Norton ghost and save it to a DVD. This would be ideal as i have a laptop with only one HD.

The other thing is, how does it work? Lets say I mess up and get a ton of viruses on my current install, i back up my data. Then how would I go about formatting the drive and copying the perfect windows install back over from the DVD?

Ghost doesn't work in windows - it has a DOS-like environment.

Basically it clones the hard drive or partition exactly. When you ghost it back again you have an exact snapshot of your machine at time of ghosting to disk. So you're not making a windows backup, you're making a disk backup.

Boot straight from the DVD, no formatting or anything as Ghost does it all for you.

So it'll give me exactly what i need on a single disc?

Is there a step-by-step for this procedure (the creating of the backup)

Is there a page that tells me what options to choose?

I must sound like a bit of an idiot but programs like these have me scratching my head, it'll be alrite once i get the disc sorted though.
