Is there a program which will allow me to record the output from my soundcard?

apart from the obvious connecting line out to line in and recording it that way, is there a program that will do this for me?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

There's plenty around, but I haven't found any free ones yet, and there doesn't seem to be any one product in particular that's well established, probably because these sort of things have illegal uses, such as recording streaming audio etc. Anyhow, have a look here or here for starters... If you find something better (ie free), let us know.

Open up the volume control program (Start, Run, 'sndvol32'), and open the Options menu, Properties. In the "Adjust volume for" section of the Properties window, select "Recording", make sure that everything in the list below that is checked, and click OK. Then select "Stereo Mix" and record with whatever program you choose (You could even use the sound recorder that comes with Windows, sndrec32) in the same manner you'd use for recording with a microphone. No need for a seperate program.

Audiograbber is a great CD ripper but it also can record your output - go to the 'line in sampling' but change what is recorded (i.e wave) by going into the mixer. Records to any format you have a codec installed for or wav.
