I use a program called CCleaner.
It's a wonder that Windows doesn't have one built in. Considering how much rubbish accumulates in there.
How's the Norton System Works one? Does it work properly?

There is one made by MS, its called RegClean.exe, but I don't know why they didnt include it in the standard install in windows. I believe its discontinued <sarcasm>Great Idea MS</sarcasm> but you can still find it on download.com I think. Personally, I use PC Tools Registry Mechanic 4, although there are many other programs that will remove dead entries. If you do decide to manually clean it out (Regedit) I'd suggest cleaning in the startup entries...Quote:

Had to uninstall regedit, it crashed everytime I started to do a scan, ah well at least there are loads of other free ones.
Regedit is the standard windows registry editor, it only browses, not scans. I think you mean regclean crashes- yeah, I've had this problem before, but the program was originally designed for w98 and not xp. They dont support it any moreQuote:
