    Windows 10 missing 'run' (fixed)

I've done something to my windows 10 installation, and have no idea what.

It started with not being able to send files to desktop. When you right click, send file to desktop. The box that opens to desktop still appears but there's no writing in it so there's no option.

In trying to solve this, i was in and out of file options. Trying different settings.
Guides online pointed to a fix that included typing “shell:sendto” in RUN dialog box

    But, Run wouldn't launch.

Back i go to the file explorer options and restore to defualts.
Now, Run command just isn't there.
I type it in the search and it's missing.

Any clues as to what i've done? As i've been playing around with the settings i'm sure it's operator error. I'm a bit loath to re-install as it's a 2 week old installation.

Can you access the command prompt? If so try running this as admin :

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

As well as the DISM command, you can also have windows check it's system files with:

    sfc /scannow

    from a command prompt.

Another thing to try is right click the windows icon, you should have run on that menu

    Re: Windows 10 missing 'run'

Run is shown as an "app" in my current Win10 build. Not sure when that changed, my work laptop still has the normal one. maybe you can install it again?

Also this (first one worked for me):https://www.isunshare.com/windows-10...indows-10.html
lol, ok @kalniel said the same thing

EDIT: Also also Windows key + R = will bring up the Run prompt (if you still have it installed obviously!)

    Re: Windows 10 missing 'run'

Windows key and R does show it.
With it missing from the search function i didn't even think to check. Thanks for the sanity check.
    So, all working.

Followed through the instruction to get the 'send to desktop' function working again, and the previous file was still there. But greyed out. New file marked with a (2) works fine though. Not sure why the old one doesn't, as both are the same file types. You shouldn't have an option for one to work and one not in the file settings.
But, at least i can delete that old file and just use the working one.

    Thanks for the help :-)
