    $10 Ubereats voucher from Crowdstrike

Don't know how many got tied up or are still tied up with the Crowdstrike bug last Friday, but for all our efforts we'll be rewarded with a $10 uber eats voucher.

    https://www.techradar.com/pro/crowds...-recent-outage

After distributing a security update that recently caused worldwide blue-screen-of-death (BSOD) for Windows computers, CrowdStrike is offering a $10 UberEats gift card to some of those affected as an apology.

One person who received a giftcard from the company (via TechCrunch) stated that the voucher arrived with a message stating that CrowdStrike recognizes “the additional work that the July 19 incident has caused.”

CrowdStrike is facing fresh backlash after giving staff and firms they work with a $10 UberEats voucher to say sorry for a global IT outage that caused chaos across airlines, banks and hospitals last week.

One LinkedIn user, external claiming to be a CrowdStrike partner, said: "The gesture of a cup of coffee or Uber Eats credit as an apology doesn't seem to make up for the tens of thousands lost in man hours and customer trust due to the July 19 incident."

This was us. We got effected by this, took us until about 21:00pm to get all our servers back online, luckily only one server still having issues since the server was brought back online, but that could just be because the 3rd party software on the server is ass.

We had a laugh when the voucher stuff came out.

It does make me laugh, not least because across all of the affected people it has probably cost them a small fortune.

A small fortune spent on pissing off their customers.

Re: $10 Ubereats voucher from Crowdstrike

If anything, other than it obviously being an inadequate type of apology, with it being for such a small amount too, I'd imagine barely anything could be bought with it (partly also due to places charging higher via Uber than they would directly using their own delivery people if any) and there would be extra costs on top likely making it much more expensive than the actual cost of the voucher anyway for anyone who was actually interested in taking advantage of it.

Exactly most of it will go on delivery and service fees.
Some of these CEOs are so bad at reading the room.

One of our customers had to go to 50 locations to manually fix their computers. They only finished yesterday

Jesus. I can't imagine having to go to so many different sites.
We were quite lucky when it came to user computers. we were able to talk users through fixing over the phone, bit locker was a pain so had some left over but we just setup "drop in centers" are some of our larger depots where user's could get help

Re: $10 Ubereats voucher from Crowdstrike

I gather back in April they did this to Linux users of their software.

To blow up servers so badly is unforgivable, but to do it twice in the same year???
