    What the Firefox?

    Hi guys,

I opened up Firefox about an hour ago as i always do, but this time it cam up with some little box complaining about profiles. I tried to open FF with the default and it complained and wouldnt let me open for some reason (didnt really pay much attention as i didnt care). So i created a new profile and now i have seemingly lost all my bookmarks, extensions and view settings
how do i change the profile FF uses?
NS6 used to pop the box up if you had more than 1 profile on the system, but FF is being a complete PITA now

    TIA!

    Aha fixed it!

Firefox got itself in a muddle - there was still a FF process running, so it couldnt start the default profile because it was already being used. I dont see why as i have had more than 1 FF running at once in the past, but thats what happened.

    All is fine now

    Note to all FF users....

To backup your Bookmarks simply go to this directory (Make sure that "Show System and Hidden Folders" is activated )

to either copy your bookmarks list or burn onto a CD/DVD backup is simple Browse your way to the following directory

X:/(where X is your HDD where FF is installed ) Documents & Settings/Windows User account name/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/Default and copy the file named "bookmarks.htm" and there u go

to install ur Bookmarks on another FF pc, simply copy the file and place it in the same directory

the other problem i've seen with FF and there's been plenty of them is when their is no links in your Bookmarks toolbar folder, the page starts to jerk/shake, to stop this is simple ...

-right click on a blank part of the top bar and untick "Bookmark Toolbar "

now you could do the above or you could just download the below program which saves everything with a few clicks ,btw u can also back the bookmarks by exporting them from the bookmark manager which is also easier

oh and FF seems to have a habit of not removing itself from memory when closed only noticed this bug in v1 and 101 tho , but its still tons better than ie
