    Windows Update problem

When accessing v5 of the update site, this PC gets as far as "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software..." and then does nothing.

    Any suggestions please?

Have a look in the file C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log using Notepad and see what the last entries are after attempting an update?

Tried logging in with a different user account, to see if it's a profile issue?

I managed to identify the cause of the problem - McAfee Internet Security Suite 2004 - what an awful piece of software.

I've uninstalled it and now have no problems!

    Thanks.
