Have a problem on the pc as it seems to be infected with spyware which has a pron dialler and displays a black desktop with a message on it linking you to an anti spyware site. How do I get rid of this irritating piece of crap and how did I get it?

Download yourself a copy of Spybot search and destroy http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
Probably clicked yes on a box that appeared at some stage and it installed it for you :-P
boot up into safe mode ,run msconfig and look carefully at the startup tab

there is no longer _ANY_ simple fix to spyware.
if http://www.adwarereport.com/mt/archives/000004.html is to be believed, ad-aware and spybot are particularly bad these days (which mirrors other reports i've read elsewhere)
manual disinfection is about the best option, but is tedious and complex skilled work without guarantees of success
a format si the only sure cure
as to "how"? what web browser do you use?
Ok guys thanks for the info.
As far as web browser used it is Firefox and this problem is on my friends pc and not my own, sorry for any confusion.
We have used spybot and M$ beta spyware and it is detected but not removed.

You might need to run them in safe mode.
It may be that it is in a restore point, disable system restore to clear restore points, re enable, then run spybot and adaware se,Originally Posted by wedge22
