    Internet very slow

Got up yesterday,Sunday, to find the internet extremely slow running, so slow in fact gave up on a few occasions. What should take seconds takes many minutes, eg to download msn messanger 7 on 512kb broadband, supposedly, took 30 odd minutes. System was fine when I put it to bed Saturday. Am assuming if ISP was at fault would have been cleared by now but still here Monday afternoon.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like spyware / virus possibility.

make sure you have latest virus defs and some good spyware software - and do a full scan.

Also contact your isp - if everyone who has the problem assumes that someone3 else will call - the isp may nevr know about the problem.

    ping tests

Anybody a rough idea of ping test times as mine seem very random?

ie for a 10000bit packet can have a round trip time of 0ms up to 10ms

maybe try wiring yourself in via nw cable to the router - eliminate the possibility of a wireless issue!

If its been okay in the past, it might be your ISP playing up.

Otherwise tweaking your RWIN etc settings using DrTCP.

Have you tried checking the site of your ISP for any notices? They may be in a support section or something, if there has been some downtime. This happened recently with my pipex account but they documented it well.
