and assuming the exchange server has the web access enabled
It is Inevitable.....
mozilla thunderbird
how are youy planning on connecting to exchange ?
if you want to use MAPI then your choice is pretty limited.
if you want to use IMAP/ POP3 then thunderbird is fine , but you'll loose a lot of the extra functionality.
which version of exchange are you trying to connect to ?

I'm happy with thunderbird for my home mail , but Outlook 2003 works so much better with exchange 2003 that it would daft not to use it.

@Moby-Dick: Well it's for connecting to an old exchange 5 ... lol - i know, it's very old I'm not going to use all the features of exchange. In fact, I will only need to use the "email" feature. Will Thunderbird do the job in this particular case?
@Everyone: Outlook Express & Thunderbird are email clients that I use at home.
Thanks for the input
I dont think exchange 5.5 supports imap - but as long as you are happy with pop3 then it should be doable with thunderbird.

I'll give it a go 2morrow @ work Thanks for the replies
5.5 supports imap, but contacts lookup over ldap is a nightmare to set up. so your preference really - your sysadmin should prefer imap4 over pop3. good way to get your contacts and initial e-mail across is to use exmerge to export your mail store to a pst, then import it. i'm sure t'bird will support pst import (it's well documented) to get everything across in the first place.
