    Angry Windows Messenger HELP!! ..please!

    Hello,

I have a very annoying problem, which has suddenly arose. Which is that in the last hour or so I must of had around 6 messages popping up urging me to install the Windows Messenger update! I have supposedly removed this from the 'Windows Components'.. and the only messenger I use is MSN 7..(which doesn't need updating!)

The message windows look like this..

Everytime I have clicked NO, but they keep coming back, and as I am doing my coursework at the moment it is a REAL annoyance!!

Any help on this would be great and if anyone could shed any light!

    Thanks

    Lewis

EDIT:: Since posting I have had another 3-4..

As Beck said, try clicking yes - you might find that it realisees that you've already got the up to date version and cancel itself out.

Yes but my main concern/point.. Is that I don't use Windows Messenger, and it should be removed and so I have no need and don't want to update it.. And I don't have automatic updates or anything like that on either..

..But if clicking Yes is the only way of getting rid of the messages then maybe I may have to!

To stop Windows Messnger Running at Startup,Simply follow the below

go to Start---> Run and type i nthe Run box (without quotes) "msconfig"

When a window pops up named "System Configuration Utility " -click on the tab named "Startup"

Then you should see a list of all the extra programs that run at startup....

for Windows Messenger -Untick the box named "msmgs.exe"
for Msn Messenger - Untick the box named "MsnMgr.exe"

then click Apply, then click ok.... then reboot, if u get a warning when you have rebooted, just tick the box and click ok (Due to XP glitch, this window pops up everytime you edit your startup )

    under XP fixes

bottom of the right column, disable/remove windows messenger.

This vb script totally removes windows messenger from your pc.

Disabling windows messenger in add/remove windows components does not work. Windows messenger is used by the Alexa trojan placed in XP by microsoft to report.

This vb script is totally safe, I used it on all 4 of my XP machines.

Say bye bye to windows messenger

    This will fix your problem

    Cheers
