Blank item in msconfig - what could it be?

I've been tidying up old programs and startup items today, including m00.exe and regedit -s sysdll. Using msconfig, there's a blank item ticked that says it lives in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

What could it be? Is it safe to uncheck it?

Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

I bet you 100 nicker it's Steam, Valve's wonderful, brilliant application...

Navigate Win Reg to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\

browse the underlying folders looking for the entry with no name, no String called item, or a String value called item with no assigned value.

Then delete it or rename it or add a name to it or whatever the hell you want .
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Actually, I noticed a blank entry in the registry along with the other startup items, I guess I'll delete it and see what happens Might try unchecking it in msconfig first.

As you can guess from my sig, I am using Steam. This ranks with Catalyst Control Centre creating its own user account. How many innocent users is that one scaring?

    Next up... services!
