I always view/sort my files by Type and Show in groups, but it's really annoying when you have to set every folder to that view when you browse them, is there anywhere i can make this default and every folder behave the same way.

You didn't mention an OS, but on the off-chance that it is Windows XP:
Open an Explorer window and set up the contents as you like them.
Click on Tools / Folder Options, then click on the View tab
Under Advanced Settings, scroll down to the checkbox "Remember each folder's view settings" and clear the box.
Click Apply.
Click Apply to All Folders.
Click OK.
