Is there a little bit of software I can get that will auto open another app while I am away for the computer? Say so I could set it to open it at 10pm and so on?
Cheers.

Windows or Linux?
Scheduled tasks or cron jobs
DOH
Tired this and although it seems it will do the job I want it to, at the moment it won't start the programme until I enter a user account password.
Anyone know how I find out what this password is? I don't remember ever making a password for anything on my computer.
Cheers.

Have you tried the "Scheduled tasks"?
You could run a batch file that had the command in to start the program.
Or you could use the "AT" Command.
Type "AT" at a command prompt (without the quotes)
Dave
Iv'e tried useing the Scheduled Tasks, and I get the message saying the programme was not started because there was no user account password.Originally Posted by davejp

Are you leaving the computer logged in? If not, that would be the problem, I think!
If you are, then perhaps you could tell us what you are trying to run?
Dave
Thanks for the help
How do I tell if I am leaving it logged in? I guess I am, I'm not doing anything apart from turning the monitor off and going to bed. The programme I'm trying to run is Newsleecher.

If you go to Control Panel/User Accounts you could create another administrator and give it a password. Try using this to run the task.
Dave
I did not need to make another account in the end. Just assed a password to mine and all works fine nowOriginally Posted by davejp
