Where do i get it ??
    http://www.linuxiso.org
    http://www.redhat.com
    http://www.suse.com
    http://www.debian.org
    http://www.gentoo.org

and many more.....google will help you.

How do i get it ??
download from above or purchase from url's above or http://www.amazon.co.uk http://www.uklinux.net

What do i do with it when i got it ???
burn it onto a CD and boot it, or unpack from purchased shop packaging and put CD in drive.

research your chosen distro's install methods.

It will be put on a laptop to run a games server only on
why use a laptop with this with the slower busses and more common less ram.

What makes you pick linux for this task ?

you don't appear to have done any research on this as a solution reading your comments above. Before rushing in I'd advise you check

a.) your hardware will do what is required
b.) your hardware is supported by linux
c.) the games server you want to run is supported on linux

    Hope that helps
    It is Inevitable.....

hate to tell you this... but unless you're running really really old hardware, linux isn't going to help you. indeed if you use a more mainstream distro with X and gnome or kde, you're likely to slow the system down even more . If you want to try Linux then for this task I'd recommend Debian Sarge or Vector linux.

    or both!

but it sounds like some basic research is needed - "linux" is no more use than "ntoskrnl.exe" or "mach-o"
