Skype
I clicked, I downloaded, I logged in and Skype failed...
Skype loads and then stops and crashes, it doesn't close down or anything, no error messages...I try to click on it and nothing happens, as if its not responding, whats up with it, the way skype is behaving is contrary to its moto...
I have the very latest version of Skype which at the time writing is v1.2, my system specs can be found on my sig...
I have Zone alarm running, however Skype has full access to the net and my system knowing the nature of this app i thought this was appropriate...
-
Turn off Zone Alarm just to make sure its not doing anything...
-
Well, that never worked...
-
I am running skype with zonealarm, what else you running??

I have nothing but problems with Skype also, while the protocol and VoIP algortyims is cutting edge, whoever is coding the UI is useless.
My current problem causes Skype to throw an exception error, uninstalling/reinstalling the program doesn't work either, i'll have to reinstall windows to use 1 program, thats just lame. I don't think there was this many rediculous bugs in their pre 1.0 betas.

I've almost given up with skype, so my last attempt to get working will be to install it on a fresh Win98SE install in MS virtual machines, to see if i need to reinstall windows to runi it, if i do then im going to give up on skype...

aidanjt, 'having' to re-install windows happens to get rid of setting with AVG, Norton e.t.c. Just clean out all the files and tidy up the registry. Voila.
P.S. I love Skype.. and much better quality audio than MSN. Only prob. comes when a 56k user hosts a conference call.
P.P.S. I'm running Sygate with it.

Yes, I am aware that a reinstall of windows blanks all my application settings i havn't backed up, no, clearing out the reg for skype wont work since there is hardly any much less anything that might cause skype to gag, its a corrupt system file somewhere.
NTFS has a nasty habbit of deteriorating over time.
I love skype too, my friends all use it, and its great for gaming, co-ordenating team efforts with ease.

So has FAT32 but anyway I officially give up with Skype until much later on when i'll have to reinstall windows

hopefully by which time the Skype coders will have learned how to code without making such rediculous unhandled exceptions.
