    Netbeans 4.1

Major problems, i open it up and it loads all the modules then the main window appears with nothing in it at all, just a blank window.

I completely uninstalled Java and Netbeans, did a restart, downloaded the netbeans 4.1 and JDK5 (update 3) bundle and installed that and it still doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Odd, what's so different about 4.0 and 4.1 in terms of the JVM?

nada mucho...the netbeans platform does not have anything to do with the jvm other than requiring it to run...so the bundle should be working for you. I got the bundle meself...the 1.5 update 3 and NB 4.1...and it works fine right off the bat. No setting of classpaths or anything like that...but have you tried running other Java applications on your computer?? Try some of the demos included in the JDK itself...check out the Swing apps especially...

I use eclipse as well, 4.0 works perfect, 4.1 doesn't work and eclipse works fine as well as other applications like azureus

I think i'm going to revert back to my ghost image. I just tried to open the java console and i got a BSOD. Bear in mind i haven't had a BSOD in about 2 years which was when i had hardware fault. I think there's been a bad install somewhere and it's not fixing it as 4.1 isn't working and it looks like java is borked somehow

A BSOD?? Man I never had those on my current machine. Sorry to hear about this big mess you are going thru Kez. Just curious if you have checked out the Matisse feeature yet in the upcoming Netbeans 4.2 release.

It's very strange. It must be a dodgy install, i never get BSOD's. I'll have a look. I'm not getting BSOD's anywhere else apart from trying to open the console in Java so it MUST be Java that's causing the problem. Obviously the JVM sits on top of the hardware so the problem must be related
