    Networking Apps

    I'm after a good program that can monitor Ethernet activity such as if people are accessing folders or files on your computer, I haven't been able to find anything real suitible yet

    • Paul Adams's system
      • Motherboard:
      • Asus Maximus VIII
      • CPU:
      • Intel Core i7-6700K
      • Memory:
      • 16GB
      • Storage:
      • 2x250GB SSD / 500GB SSD / 2TB HDD
      • Graphics card(s):
      • nVidia GeForce GTX1080
      • Operating System:

      • Monitor(s):

      • Internet:

    Which OS?

    With XP you can right-click on My Computer and click Manage, then expand the "Shared Folders" container, there you see:
    Shares (shared resources on your machine)
    Sessions (users connected to your shares, and how long they have been connected)
    Open Files (files open, user, lock type, etc.)

    That's only real-time access of course, no historical info.

    You could get Ethereal, for monitoring the network at packet level.

    I dont know if this is relevant as well but if you press ctrl-alt-del adn go into the task manager...then there is a network tab that monitors how busy your network is....well at least for that machine....
