    Remote Backup?

    Is there any way of backing up the works laptops when there plugged into the network automatically?

    Just the my docs n stuff, spose I could use the briefcase n get the user to do it himself, be ok for one of them but the other users a F'tard n will manage to eff it up...

    you can do it better than that , you redirect the mydocuemtns folder to a network folder. When they log off the network its syncronisies a copy to the local machine , which is synced back when they log back in.

    combine that with some shadow copies and you are laughing.

    Hmmmm, not a bad idea that, main problem would prolly be the pst file at near on 1gb....

    Dump the dead body of the numpty wrapped in axminster in a layby and blame it on a long distance lorry driver. Hopefully they will employ someone less thick.

    Just but a batch file on the desktop to copy C:\Documents and settings\*.* to \\server\backup or whatever, and ask the user to jsut double click on that when they plug in?

    Twig's suggestion is very practicable; indeed I use it - synching's all very well until the user creates an Access database and XP refuses to synch it . If you're vindictive and really don't trust the guy to double click an icon, you could set a logoff script via GPO...
