    Skype transfer speeds...

Im using Skype v1.3 BETA, and before you make any suggestions, all the previous versions of Skype DO NOT work on my pc regardless of what I do...

...Now, I'm on a 2Mb ADSL line with Pipex and when transferring files i get an average tranfer rate of around 33kbps!! The recipient is on a 1.5Mb line

I've been told by many friends that you can get up to 110kbps transfer speeds with Skype...

Skype has full access to the net on my PC, my PC itself can hold it own (as you can see in my sig)...

How can I improve the transfer speeds fellas??

256k upload? (check with your ISP)
256/8 = 32kbps but with overheads etc I would be pleased if i got that. I would expect more like 25 really.

33K is usually enough tho, normal phone lines are 8k 8bit mono. Thats not huge bandwidth in itself.

Thats about right for a BT "standard" ADSL line upload. To get faster you'll need to look at the companies that offer "LLU" style ADSL lines such as bulldog who offer 600k upload as standard on their ADSL LLU lines.
