check out your rpm's for irda
then check out a google search for e700 and irda and you'll find the info you need

a link plz![]()
ok, just been reading through a few forums, user stories and some kernel docs.
It looks like you can get the e700 (I assume you mean the samsung e700) to be recognised as an irda device (just a dumb device) but it would appear that there is no modem driver for the phone so I don't think you'll be able to use it.
I could be wrong, but I couldn't find any documentation that suggests it will work, just lots of half working attempts

no no no.what i want is: the linux drivers for the Prolific USB-to-serial Comm port cable.this is a data cable for my samsung e700.which i can use to make the e700 work as a gprs modem for my 2nd pc.i use it as a modem becuase i have free gprs and the location of my 2nd pc does not have the net.... so any drivers for the Prolific USB-to-serial Comm port cable would be very greatful. BUT for linux.
the cable/phone will stuggle to be used to connect to the internet without a gprs modem driver for the phone.
contact samsung see if they support the device under linux, as all the stories I've been reading suggest people can get the phone to connect and be seen as a dumb device (don't know if thats a cable driver or a phone driver) but not actually get he phone to dial out or do anything useful under linux.

Google is your friend. Drivers are available from one of the sites on the FIRST PAGE.
Hey Richard, we posted at the same time.
my fault for not spotting this- I still had the irda string in my goolge search.

cheers people will try them out over the weekend and tell you how it goes. btw i have tried googling before, only i wasn't certain that they were the right drivers but 2nd opinion has proved correct.
cheers
