Don't believe so, and my personal experience of IDS makes me question its genuine value - lots of administrative overhead and many, many false positives until you tune it to the point where it won't alert you of anything important!Originally Posted by Dougal
I guess it has its place in as a network sensor in DMZs with very specific services (i.e. quarantined SQL servers - if it ain't port 1433 it don't belong) but I found trying to manage 5 network sensors throughout an infrastructure to be a pain.
For host IDS I think something like MOM is better too.
