Anyone know where you can download the bare SP2 installer. I did it once, but I cn't find the link again. The original file I downloaded was corrupted.

Automatic windows update tells me it cannot instal SP2

Last time i tried it you had to go through about 50 odd menus and answer questions!

In cases like this, i like to use www.filemirror.com (File Mirror)

Just as an aside - PC World always have free spare copies at the "service" desk, if you pass that way.

if automatic updates doesn't work, you may have an issue with your system - they have a very good online help thing (i've used it twice now - both times successfully)

Can't remember what the cause of the second was, but the first was time/date was over 90 days out of sync or something silly.

oh, and both times it wouldn't install from the downloaded exe either.

Fantastic. Thanks for those. I hope the manual instal will work. It didn't work last time either when I formatted this pc. Not sure why it doesn't like SP2.
