    Longhorn is no more!

    Well kinda,

Beta news (http://www.betanews.com/article/Long...sta/1122002477) is reporting that longhorn is now going to be known as Windows Vista

    Which literally means:

    Windows Pleasing View.

    Probably because they couldn't get

    Windows Working View

    Without Laughing

    OK.
First the worst name was Windows 'New Technology'.
That was bested by Windows (hendrix) 'XPerience'.
    Now Vista. Bravo MS

btw, is it just me or does Windows Pleasing View sound like engrish?

    That be sarcasm then.

It has to be one of the most uninspiring names for an OS i have ever heard.

    Apple : Panther! Tiger!

Linux : Red Hat! Mad Hatter! Morphix! Devil linux! PHLAK!

    MS : Er.... Vista.

Linux and Solaris are not the same!

    Solaris is Unix based.

Linux has stuff like Ubuntu, Debian, Redhat and so on.

If I were Microsoft, I would probably just slap a number on the end of Windows - isn't this going to be NT6? Hopefully, this will actually be a good OS that comes out as soon as possible - that way, I can save money and skip Windows XP completely!

Carlh hada good idea - he said he knows why they called it VISTA.

So when you shut your PC down, instead of the chimes going "dum-dum-dee-dum" it now screams "HASTA LA VISTA BABY" and then closes down

    NT7 - sort of... 2000 was NT5, 2003/XP was NT6, this will be NT7.

But the "sort of" bit - IIRC 2003/XP internally identify themselves as 5.1... So maybe NT5.2?

thats almost as confusing as the st00pid names. vista... windows visa... maybe it will only work if your visa is inserted in a chip card reader to install or boot
