    Angry Windows ME bashing

If i never see another copy of windows me it wont be too soon.

    grrr

i have been trying to get a old p1 machine with it installed running on my wireless network at home.

    1. i had to install a PCI usb card to get usb to work on it, 3 restarts just to get a simple card to work

    2. Wireless installer crashes everytime i use it, i have used this installer on 98 and xp and it worked flawlessly but it crashes everytime on ME and its says on the disc it should work on it.

So i download a new ME verison from belkins website and put it on my usb stick and plug it into the ME machine.... install the usb drive and begin copying the installer over... It stops and says the file is currupt then a window pops up: "This disc has not been formatted do u wish to format it now?", i say no and plug it back in my xp machine and it works fine ?!?

    3. So i write the installer to a CD-RW and pop it in ME and it just sits their spinning up and not finding anything, just starting to get a little angry as i grab a CD-R and burn another copy of the installer, whilst searching for my win98 disc.

4.Nope, he dont like that, the installer asks for files which it has already extracted, so i try the usb stick again and it BSODs on me. I still have a couple of ideas but its very likely to be win98.

    5. I finally get the installer to finish and restart the pc again. and guess what the wireless utility doesn't work on ME, so i'm gunna install 98 on it and be happy, i think it would have been quick to install 98 from the start and not pissed around with ME at all.

This is definatly the worst OS i have ever used and hope i will ever use, is there some way we can get MS to destroy all traces of it and make all our lives a little easier.

    grrrrrrr

Saw the thread title and had a chuckle before reading. ME is awful in my experience. I will never use or recommend it. It's worth getting another copy of xp - will save you pulling your hair out

Windows ME was the bane of my life. Having seen the title of the thread, I suddenly remembered having to back up 200mb worth of files onto floppy disk, using only the keyboard and a morphed 640x480 resolution. Yes, ME corrupts easily.

Its the clown of operating systems. Not funny and depressing, i bet it has a poor home life.

I wonder if ME would hold the title of "most swarn at" OS>

i used windows ME for 3 years, i've found if you re-installed windows about every 6-9 months then it would work well. it does have some funny querks such as it not liking certain graphics card drivers etc.

CE is used for embedded devices. Everything from ATMs to Pocket PCs to pizza vending machines.

I never had any problems with ME. It behaved the same way as 98SE for me. Of course, after SP2 came out for Windows 2k, there was no sense in using the 9x kernel anymore.
