About LinkBacksWondering how long it takes you guys/gals to bootup your computer in win xp? I would be happy if it only took about 10 sec's to boot my computer just curious how long it takes the rest of the world

Last time I timed it, it was 17 seconds. Yes I am sad

If you want fast boot times don't use Windows, use someting fast. Like BeOS.
If you insist on Windows, obtain the BootVIS app to speed up boot times by a large margin

booting up isnt too much of a problem... takes a while cos of the onboard raid controller has to do its thing.. but my computer takes like 1 or 2 minutes to shutdown after you click shutdown.. just sits doing, what looks like nothing, then decides to turn off... if i hit the off button it takes a few seconds... strange computeranyhow i'll checkout this BootVis stuff aswell.

i have the same thing happen on my laptop when i hit shutdown it just stares back at me.. then it shuts off when IT feels like it ususaly about 1min or so later..
streetster/evildoc614 mine used to do that, fixed now though
duno abotu laptop, but i know that nf2 mobos hate pci gfx cards... its asking for it imo...
my k6-2 350 machine @450 on win98 boots up p almost instantly, and thats with a slow hdd!
its quicker than my 2.2ghz xp runnig win2k!
my PC's never off, only have to watch is boot up to play with the bios
dunno though, doesn't take that long
windows xp on a duron 1.6ghz / 80gb western digital machine seems to take 35seconds to get to the start bar from the bios post screen... i thought windows XP was supposed to boot in less than 30 seconds?

You can optimise boot times with a bit of tweaking, in general I found XP to be quicker to boot on the same pc from a fresh install than win98se or 2000

thanks but i didnt that already... microsoft took it off there site...and all of those sites link to microsofts site. i have checked all the places i can think off... thanks again but its not there = )
