you can dualboot with win 9x and XP/2k just as long as you install the oldest OS FIRST! otherwise your farked.

So you set win9x as boot drive before installing, and let it install to the first partition, which should be the only bootable partition on that drive imo.Originally Posted by directhex
Other OS goes on other drive, that way you can use your bios's bootmenu (escape) to select boot drive without having to change boot order.
Will win9x affect the boot sectors of any drives other than the one its installing on?
Quite irrelevant really becuase I never intend to use win9x, again, ever! What about win2k and the new versions, are they happy together?
I've got it up and running now (eventually), pain in the ass with my sata drives - until i used the server2003 versions at which point everything went smoothly installed in just 20mins, it even foudn drivers for my wLan card which i was shocked about (in a good way )
Seems very stable so far, had a few compatability problems at first with installing things that checked the OS version numbers (eg my sound card drivers) but the handy XP compatability mode worked a treat so now I have everything installed
Currently seems good enough for me to run it as a main OS (though its still dual booting with XP atm) but time will tell i guess, won't really know until Battlefield2 crashes (but then that thing crashes randomly anyway )
where are these people getting the beta form???

As Silent Death suggested, I downloaded IE 7 from a P2P network. Vista is also available, as is a crack for it, which is sad to say the least
I'm somewhat dismayed at Microsoft. They have introduced new security features for downloading and using their software, yet have retained the exact same product activation system; therefore giving people an easy ride in 'cracking' it.
I might do a mini review of IE 7 if anyones interested, and include some pictures of it in action soon. One problem in particular which a lot of people are experiencing, is that the Windows Update site does not work on it. However, it is early days.
New Sig on the Way...
or they may not have finished the security intergration yet, MS use the word beta far too easy. I'd suggest that this is possibly closer to "alpha"I'm somewhat dismayed at Microsoft. It is Inevitable.....
MSDN for me helps having a housemate with a HP RnD subscriptionOriginally Posted by nvening

i'm really bad at reviews lol but i'll have a go tomorrow if you like when ive got a bit of time
Hardware = 3ghzP4, ECS PF21 Extream mobo, 1024 DDR2 ram, X800 PCI-E
Runs nicely for me though, few compatability issues with the odd bit of software but all the major stuff works in it.
Anyone have this running on an A64?
