"According to reports, Volista will concentrate on security, security and security again. Is there an easy upgrade path from Windows 2000, which many large corporations still use? So far, on this, Microsoft remains silent."
Which will mean a ton of security updates :)
but u have to pay subscription to get it grrrrrrrrrrrr
why does the Inq article keep calling it Volista?
because microsoft is "the vole"
Many a true word spoken in jest...
Microsoft was going to go back to the date system for naming it's new OS, did you know? but Microsoft Mac OS X '99 sounded daft... ;)
Ok, I now have 'Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1' installed :D
Its all very nice, I've noticed the shell intergration isn't what it was though. It opens a new window with the folder you type instead of in the same window. Also, the 'File, Edit, View' toolbar things you get on more or less every window, are now below the tabs and below the address bar. Looks a bit naff, and you can't change it :(
Apart from that, IE7 looks pretty good.
i have "vole OS 2006/7" downloading now, i think i'll have it in a day or too on my crappy connection, but i have to get a new hard drive before i install it, i know what windows is like with other verisons of its self:
Windows 98: "whats this windows 'XP', i dont like that, i'll just format your drive for you!!!!"
Me: NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my 16 seasons of simpsons!!!!!!!! DAMN YOU,DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!
nez
:D
Tbh, there should be no problem dual booting. The problems faced are typically over rated :)
windows 9x DOES erase any booting ability for other OSes, though.
Even XP?
sure. win9x will erase any and all boot loaders it finds, and put one that only allows itself to boot. xp, 2k, 2k3 will erase any and all boot loaders it finds, and install a replacement which can boot all ms oses on the system.
basically, it's anti $not_windows protection
I stand corrected then directhex ;)
It makes dual booting Windows and Linux a pain when you want to reinstall Windows. However, I have come up with a cunning plan so that I don't have to reinstall Linux as well. Install Windows on one hard drive by itself, whack in another hard drive and install Linux on that. When I need to reinstall Windows, take out the Linux hard drive and reinstall Windows. Then, put the Linux hard drive back in, and hopefully everything should work still. I've not tried it yet, but it should work!Quote:
