I have had reason to ponder the WICU today, having been left by Maxblast, god bless it, with a broken Office 2003 install, and no way of removing it - you know the deal; try to repair, it asks you for an installer file which got stuffed in some automatically created temp folder which is no longer available, try to remove, same thing. Try to install from the original source over the top, same deal. Can't go forward, can't go back, and every time you try to launch an Office app (for instance) it starts up Windows Installer. Annoying? Oh yes...
Anyway, for them as don't know, although I expect a lot of you do, MS provide a cleanup tool which strips out broken or redundant Installer information via a cuddly user interface. If you want to reinstall whatever you've annihilated, you WILL still need the CD and license keys for it, but it still gets you out of a bind.
Anyway, HERE you go.
