I use mouse gestures, hold left and tap right, forward, hold right and tap left, back.

some older vers of the logitech sowfware didn't work with firefox for me (latest does) so you assign the keys Alt <- for back and Alt -> for forward to the buttons that should work.

In the Logitech driver change buttons 7 & 8 to "Generic Button" By clicking "Other" then "Select Function" Should work after that.Originally Posted by Taxboy
I stopped using Mouseware a long long time ago, the drivers were crap, sure, it let me see my remaining battery power, but its much easier to notice when the batteries die.. I found the software caused endless problems with binding mouse buttons in certain games.. the Generic HID drivers work better.. the Saitek HID drivers worked better still (yes, even with my logitech cordless keyboard and mouse)
I may be being a bit dense but my mouse only has 6 buttons - or are these hidden functions in the software - forgot to add I'm using Win 98SEOriginally Posted by beanbandit
Then try changing the buttons assigned from Forward/Back to Generic and see if that helps.Originally Posted by Taxboy
When asking these questions its easier if you tell us what the mouse actually is and what OS your using, then you can be helped quicker.
in set point set the buttons to generic > under select task click other > under select function button set to generic.

I've changed button 5 & 6 on the side of the mouse to generic but still no joy.
can you not set the buttons to user define or similar and then Alt -> for forward, Alt <- for back.
