    problem with windows xp client

got a user who has a taskbar which thinks its all 'quick launch'

ie. none of the open programs show in it, you cant drag it about, or anything. right clicking on it, just gives the options as if it were a quick launch.

we can see the QL icons, but not the open programs?

Can you not right click it, then untick "lock toolbar". Some dividers between the toolbars should then appear. Can you not move it about then?

nope. normally when its unlocked you get 2 markers either side of the QL the left one being the separator between start button and QL then the right one being the separator between QL and open items.

the left one is there, the right one isnt.

    tried changing resolution,
    removing icons,
    adding new toolbars.

I'm sure I got that once when I was messing about moving all the toolbars at the bottom etc. IIRC, I'd actualy put one toolbar ontop of the other. Therefore, try moving quick launch to the other side of the screen, and see if a new separator/toolbar appears.

Are you able to close the quick launch toolbar entirely - by right clicking, going to toolbars > quicklaunch? You might want to try clicking around the edges to get away from the quicklaunch bar while you try it....

You can always turn the quick launch bar off by right clicking the start button and choosing properties. What do you mean by removes the whole start menu? If the start button isnt appearing either then somehting crazy is going on.
