Unhappy Panic! Panic! - Windows need to be activated in * days. But it is activated!

Everytime i reboot i get the message "Windows needs to be activated in * days - activate now yes/no?". But it is. When i press 'yes' to go through the activation again, all i get is a message say "Windows XP is alreay activated"

Anyone had this before? Whats going to happen when i run out of time?

Should have an option to activate it via phone, do that...unless you have something to hide

    Well thanks for that .

It was activated by phone, thats the whole point. Now theres no option to activate it but a reminder that it must be done, which is counting down. Can it be de-activated? I have never heard of this happening before.

I'd call microsoft support - they'll have to sort it out for you.

bingo. I've seen this before and M$, sorry Microsoft, just re-activate it.

ah - hold on - OEM copy of Windows was it? A friend of mine just had that with an OEM copy he bought, and had a nightmare convincing MS to activate it.

Indeed it an OEM. But the activation screen is not accessable (just says it already activated - no options). How are MS going to reactivate it if there is no activation screen? I'm worried i will have to re-install windows to get t properly activated. I have only just finished getting it sweet. God damn Windows activation!!!

    to deactivate windows....

    open regedit
    navigate to...
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

in the right pane you should have OOBETIMER
    right click it
    go to modify
change at least one value of this to deactivate windows

    you may need to reboot

    hope this helps
