Anybody running WXP x64 on A8N-SLI?

Planning on building a system for someone based on the A8N-SLI Premium. They want to run WXP Pro x64 on it. Just wondered if there are official drivers for everything the board needs for 64 bit windows?

Also, can anybody recommend a video card in the 6800/7800/x800/x850 range that will be lovely in this board, but also quiet (without modding)?

I have the A8N-SLI Deluxe with 2 BFG 6800GTs and it runs very well. The cards are quite loud though... I had x64 running on it when I first built the system, however, there aren't any compatible drivers for my modem so I went back to XP Pro. I must say x64 did run very well though. And yes there are drivers for the motherboard to run with x64.

anyone I know that has tried XP 64 has ended up reverting to the 32 bit version because of driver issues. I think I'm gonna pass on being a beta tester for M$

Running the system in my sig with XP x64 and it works very well. Fair bit nippier when loading things than XP Pro!

You'll need to do a fair bit of prep work for this but as a rule most of the core drivers will be easily available. Nvidia's drivers all offer x64 versions: the main sticking point is finding a decent F6 driver disk and I suggest you grab one from Planetamd64 (free registration required) and stop by their forums for a good read up. Also, check out 3DVelocity as they have a very nice compatibility guide for applications and games. I don't have much apart from an Audigy 2 ZS card (Creative have a 64-bit driver for it), an Epson R800 printer (a 64-bit driver came out this week) and a Logitech mouse (again, 64-bit drivers from their site) so I can't offer too much about different bits of kit but with two exceptions (Ghost 9: didn't see my DVD burners and Diskeeper) it runs all my software so I'm not complaining.

I've been running it for around 2 weeks now and it works a treat: few minor problems but mostly of my own doing, and always with that damn Nvidia firewall. I'd recommend Nod32 antivirus over the free Avast simply because it works and if you need a defragmenter use O&O software. For comparison I'm running 2 XFX 6800GT cards fitted with Arctic Cooling Silencers and under full load it's very quiet and works a treat

Oh, and I'm pleased to say it won't run RealPlayer which is one of the best pieces of news I've had in ages: best thing that ever happened to my registry
