Reg hack to get rid of the stupid XP message baloons

I did have a registry hack to get rid of the stupid popup baloons that give you really annoying and pointless messages, like when you have new stoftware install (yes, thank you windows i just installed it funnily enough) and from the system tray for things like when your connected to the net. I seem to have lost it. And before anyone replies with an very original and patronising 'google is your friend', i have searched but can't seem to come up with the good. Anyone know it or have a link to a registry entry file?

    Cheers

this gets rid of those little yellow balloons that pop up from the system tray, saying things like "local area connectin 1, network cable unplugged" etc etc

I think I got a program called res hack somewhere where you can change all sort of stuff. I made my start button say cheese for a while.
