    Shall i install xp 64?

    Hey guys,

As the title suggests, i'm running xp pro sp2 but soon i will be upgrading some parts and i might as well reinstall the operating system (i need to make a partition or two).

I know there are little benefits of runnin 64bit now, but are there any disadvantages? i'm kinda curious about running far cry in 64 bit mode!

Does anyone have the 64 bit version installed and what do you think?

    thnx

When I changed from Pro to 64 I couldn't find compatible drivers for a lot of things and some programs didn't run, make sure you have drivers for everything before you change over, I just went back to Pro in the end couldn't really get enough to run to truly evaluate it.

All I can do is re-iterate what kameio has said.

from what Ive seen and used of the OS (granted in a VM Ware environment) its been a pain when it comes to drivers.
Look on the manufacturers site for any components you have on your comp that require an extra driver and search in google.

VMWare supports 64-bit Windows as a guest OS now?

Its working ok for me, if I want to print I can just use VMWare
Probably not worth it though really, unless you use a lot of 64bit apps

I prefer 64 bit, faster load times for games IMO.

But if you have wireless you *may* have troubles with drivers.

Anything with "conexant" in it won't work properly or at all.

And webcams are hard to find drivers for, logitech say they are releasing some, sometime between now an 128bit windows

i would leave it for at least 9-11 months due to the fact that a more wider range of 64 bit drivers wil lbe available

Just make sure you can get drivers for all your critical devices.

I haven't found anything (except for virtual CD and DVD programs) that won't run on x64.

    Loving the x64 experience here

I don't think it's really too useful, wait for Vista IMO.
