Bought a new domain name... adding it to current website

Yesterday I bought a new domain name, how would I go about using it for a website already with a current domain?

I asked my webhost but with no response yet.

Eg. current domain name is www.ddsecurity.org, but the new one is www.adrian-thomas.com, how can I use www.adrian-thomas.com to take the page to the same page as www.ddsecurity.org takes me?

I changed the domain name servers for the new domain name, and added adrian-thomas.com in directadmin, in the domain setup area.

I can't think of what else to do.. is it even possible, or do I just need to forward adrian-thomas.com to ddsecurity.org rather than it just working directly? .

    Thanks

If you manage your own DNS for the domain simply point www.adrian-thomas.com to 72.20.9.36 - that'll do it.

    I use GoDaddy, so they manage the DNS, but I can change it to something custom, I changed the name servers to;
ns3.ikhost.net and ns4.ikhost.net for my other domain (webhosting told me to use them).

That's what I'm using at the moment, but just getting sent to the GoDaddy website, rather than mine..

    Thanks

Have you any management application - such as Plesk or C-Panel? You will need to basically add an entry to this for the new domain.

So I'm guessing this is something on the webhosting side that they need to sort out..?

Contacted them last night, no reply yet though..

I know with Plesk i'd simply add a new domain entry, change the forwarding to it goes to the original url - and it would point there (probably with a whole page frame... )

Personally, I would just set it up to redirect.

Well, what if I want to stop using the old domain name, and only use the new one?

Then, with the hosting account, you change the domain name to match the new domain. On the account with the domain name, you tell it the nameservers of the hosting company.

    Domain account = done.

But hosting.. how would I go about changing the domain name? Like I said before I tried in DirectAdmin, so would I need to delete the old domain, and just leave the new domain (what I added earlier) where it is?.

    Screenshots if they help..

I've actually managed to forward www.adrian-thomas.com to www.ddsecurity.org OK, but just forwarded.. not actually been taken to it via adrian-thomas.com

Where are those pictures from? The hosting account or the domain name account?

To clarify: so far as I understand, whenever you have a domain name with your own webspace, you need to do two things. First, you need to set up the hosting account so that it corresponds to the correct domain names. Second, you need to tell the domain name account to use the hosting account's nameservers so that it goes to the right address.

Once you have done that, it should take about 24 hours (can vary) for it all to take place.

Pics from hosting account, I can take screenshots of the domain account too if needed.

I've gave the domain the correct name servers, and told the hosting the domain name, but it still goes to the GoDaddy parked hosting page thingy.. I'll try removing the forwarding which is currently on and hope in the morning it will magiclly start to work (Sometimes works... sometimes.. )

You might just need to wait then - it takes time for the nameserver changes to take effect.

Dodgy, well I asked someone to test it for me, and they got this (What I'm wanting):

    But I'm still getting this:

Something need updating on my ISP's side or what? (Not 100% sure the way DNS works).
