    Freewebs...

I just signed up to Freeweb for its free web hosting service mainly to to just keep a fairly large movie IL-2 movie I made so that I could allow people to view my movie making skills...

But since the built in uploading function is unbelievably patronising they don't let you upload (.avi's) does anyone know the address so that I can upload my movie through an ftp...

By the way, the file is 68.7Mb, was the smallest I could make it without losing too much visual quality,it maybe a huge filesize but makes for good viewing...

I don't think freewebs allow FTP uploading and they only give you 40MB of webspace with the free package. You gotta pay for the fancy stuff on freewebs.

You could always try here: http://www.megaupload.com/

I've heard mixed reactions about reliability, but you could probably do worse than give it a try?

    make your own ftp server?

use something like dyndns, set up some ftp program on it, create user names/password and shares and bobs your uncle....

all depends on your upload speed though... so you'll prob max out at 23-26ish

Just have a link on the site to a bittorrent or ed2k and host it on your own machine or a friend who has a large upload bandwidth and is always on. Shocking proper usage of a p2p network

If it's just a movie clip that you want freely available, then consider Peer-to-peer sharing. Alternatively you can put media on Archive.org using Ourmedia publishing tools, which enabled me to put my clip of an electronic hamster burning online without eating up my ADSL bandwidth (HamsterBurn)... that works pretty well, and you can then send the Archive.org link to people.
